The guy running the local recycling buyback spot was having trouble with his solar panel and couldn't run the register to pay the outdoorsmen who are showing up with shopping carts full of bottles and cans.

These poor guys spend all their time gathering bottles and cans, and then push shopping carts, God knows how far, to make a few dollars.

I lent him my jumper cables so he could power the register with his car battery. I'm not certain, but my act of kindness and charity could make up for some terrible things I've done in the past.

Editor's note: When I returned to pick up my jumper cables, I found out my jumper idea didn't work, so the recycling payback was down. Dozens of poor devils have scrounged and trudged through the wet and cold, in vain. There will be no joy in Mudville tonight.
