A hundred years ago, a piece of apple pie was a special treat, enjoyed after dinner on Sunday, but now we can impulsively buy and eat large amounts of incredibly opulent, high sugar food constantly.

A new book has come out with a different spin on obesity.

We've all seen the stats on how obesity is increasing, especially for kids. American tourists are known worldwide for being fat. People that are heavy are now expecting to ride those electric airport shuttles meant for the handicapped and infirm. I regularly see heavy people riding those electric shopping carts in the supermarket.

I wonder if the future will be populated with incredibly fat people in silver robes zipping around on anti-gravity chairs?
