Paint Test 2
Dec. 22nd, 2009 05:36 pmI added more paint to the basecoat both to darken it and add gloss, and now I'm going with two glazes, a dark brown and red brown glaze. At this point in the 2nd test, only the basecoat is painted, and tomorrow it will be ready for the glaze. One lesson that I learned from the first test, is to wait 5 minutes after application to start working the glaze, and to wait 30 minutes before critiquing the finished product. For the test, I'm only painting a small section, but the glaze timing is set for working a much larger area at a time.
This is a lot of work, but it's the first time for me. You can see why most people don't try it.
........................................................................
I think I have it now, but I tested 4 variations of effect and haven't decided how extreme I want the color and pattern. I'm looking at a little test section, but I have to imagine the entire room painted as such, to be literally surrounded by the effect.
