I bought a magicJack which connects to yer computer broadband and a phone and lets you make and receive unlimited calls and voicemail for $20 a year. I paid $3 extra and instead of a random phone number I got a super snappy one, ending in 4001. You could easily pay ten times that through AT&T for the most basic phone service
