Stormy Weather And the Federal Police.
Jan. 21st, 2010 06:59 amWind and rain are plaguing us, yesterday morning I passed spinouts and accidents, including a big rig that had dropped one of those huge ocean containers onto the freeway.
Last night, I got a strange phone call on my never-used land line. This phone is set up in an empty bedroom, and I haven't made any calls from it in a month. A Federal cop was on the line, claiming that a 911 call had been made from that phone. He said the county sheriff's department dispatched the call to his nearby federal installation, thinking it originated from there. He wanted to know my name and address, claiming that the 911 system didn't give him that, and he wanted to come by for a welfare check, which I declined.
My only thought is that the wet weather has screwed up the phone system. (I've had problems with phones in other places when it rains) I gave him by name and address, and was fairly cooperative, because if someone elsewhere was in trouble and had really called 911, I wanted them to them to figure this shit out.
