Hard Work- Part Deux
Jun. 26th, 2010 10:27 pmWe're getting a big order ready for shipment to the UK. I'm going forward with it, even though I haven't received a formal PO yet. I busted my hump all day, packing units, but also taking down some 14' steel pallet racks I'm selling to a work neighbor. I was taking it down myself, even though that's dangerous, and sure enough, the section I was working on started collapsing with me up in the air. Luckily, I scraped my leg, but stepped back onto a crossbeam that was still secure and carefully climbed down and waited until I had some help to finish.
I got a lot done today and felt like shit when I got home, sore and dehydrated. I drank a beer and took a nap, and feel better now, good enough for dinner even though it's now after 10 pm.
One thing that helped me up in the air, when the section was collapsing, was that I'm in pretty good shape, with good reflexes and balance. I picked up some packaging on Friday, and the owner of the packaging company told me that I had inspired him to get back into shape, and he's lost 11 pounds so far. One of the young guys that was helping me load wanted to know if I was working out, and I'm not, but a day like this leaves me really sore, like I have been lifting at a gym. Tomorrow will be a day of rest.
