Jul. 18th, 2010 02:38 pmCalifornia is giving out $200 rebates for buyers of energy saving refrigerators. Here at home, I've been using a little 4.4 cu ft Sanyo fridge that I bought about 10 years ago for brewing lager beer. It's small, but it has a little top freezer, and actually it's OK for one person. In Europe, it's a common size, because people there don't stock up on massive quantities of food.
Home Depot made me an offer I can't refuse on a 18.2 cu ft GE that supposedly will only use $35 of total electricity per year. The freezer compartment alone is almost the entire size of my old refrigerator. They are going to deliver Wednesday, and take my noble little Sanyo away for recycling. It will look more normal to have a standard refrigerator in my kitchen, but I won't ever fill it up.http://products.geappliances.com/ApplProducts/Dispatcher?REQUEST=SpecPage&Sku=GTH18EBTWW
