Farm Report For November 15
Nov. 15th, 2010 07:38 pmI picked up another rototiller off Craigslist and finished plowing and planting the back 40. It's a nice 4 stroke model that plows deeper than the old one. I planted more cauliflower and broccoli, plus snowpeas and a lot of red and yellow onions. I alternated rows of onions because I'm not sure that the western end of the garden will be getting enough sunlight this winter. The odd number rows are red and the evens are yellow. I planted what could be a years' worth of onions, and I'm counting on being able to later store them so they keep.
I'll eventually put in more snowpeas where the tomatoes are. We had a high of 73 today and tomatoes are still ripening. It might take a nightime freeze to ultimately put an end to this season's tomatoes.
