Irrigation Project
Mar. 6th, 2011 06:48 pmThe two big trees that were severely pruned in early February are now showing signs of returning. Little shoots are now popping out of the sides of the branches. I really like those trees and hope they recover. I will have to cut any returning mistletoe out every winter.
I have the parts to build a sprinkler zone for one of the sections of land out by the road. I've chosen the one section closest to the well. I'll build the sprinkler assembly and test it, then kill the wild grass and weeds with Roundup, prepare the soil, and bury the pipes, and finally plant lawn grass. I'll take each little step incrementally. There are two other sections that I'll address sometime later. The biggest section, on 6th street, will involve long ditches and a lot more work, so it's probably smart that I start with the easiest area first and learn from it.
