Farm Report For March 5.
Mar. 5th, 2011 10:47 amAnother storm is forecast for tonight, but recently we've been getting warm rain from Hawaii, rather than those cold arctic systems. In preparation, I've been turning all my compost piles.
One is almost ready to use, and I "seeded" a bucket full from it into each pile that is breaking down more slowly.
I'm planting five big pots with flower seed. Two varieties are old seed from 2005, so we'll see how well they germinate.
I've eaten the mature lettuce, broccoli and cauliflower, but I'll have more of everything ready in April. The snow peas plants are thriving, and have climbed to the top of their trellis, but they haven't even begun to flower, much less give me peas.
