This cool weather trend is forecast to continue into June, and while all the summer vegetables (except squash) are now in the garden, and seem healthy enough, they are developing slowly.

Some six year old alyssum flower seeds have sprouted out near the front porch, but I'll have to wait until the seedlings are bigger to be sure they are not weeds.

I picked up a huge bag of fertilizer for the lemon and avocado trees. Once I got home and calculated the dosage, I realized this is easily a five year supply. There are lots of proto-lemons started on the Meyer lemon, and the scrawny Zutano tree is still flowering, while the lush Stewart has finished flowering, with no sign of fruit. I'm going to focus more on these trees, with the goal of eventually getting them to bear fruit.

I just noticed a new gopher hole in the front yard, and in the minute it took me to get the gopher bait, Halo had the little sucker. He's learned to snatch them from the hole without even digging. A year ago, I was wishing for a gopher dog, until the internets told me that dogs are not good at catching gophers.
