Farm Report June 30
Jun. 30th, 2011 12:06 pmBirds are eating my almonds. I haven't actually seen them, but I'm finding almond fruit, still on the tree, with holes in the side and the nut missing. I didn't have this happening last year, but now I'm caring better for the tree, and the wildlife have taken notice.
I planted a third half row of snap beans. The lettuce had been all picked, just in time for the hot weather forecast this weekend.
I had a heavy pollination on the lemon tree, but some of the little proto-lemons seem to be turning yellow and falling off. The green ones are getting bigger, and there are still scads of green ones, so I'm not worried. It might be some natural process that happens when the tree has more fruit than it can develop.
