Wodan's Day Update

I had the permanent crown put in today, so I'm happily done with dental work. I will probably need some cosmetic modification on the incision over my eye. It's not fully healed yet, and the dermatologist will decide later.

Driving to the dentist was hell this morning. It's only 60 miles, but it took two hours.

The newly planted beans are coming up, after 5 days. I made some killer spaghetti sauce with my own tomatoes, onions and eggplant. I've been cooking a lot, usually simple things but I try and do it right.

I was watching "Hell's Kitchen" when I started cooking my tomato sauce, and when I finished, "Master Chef" was on, and they were making tomato soup. i was listening to them talking about cutting the acidity of tomato dishes, and sort of accomplished that with red wine, and some olive oil. i think the eggplant also served to counter acidity. I didn't have any sugar, but a bit of that is good in tomato sauces.

My Thursday In Four Paragraphs

When I water the lawn, I almost always use too much water, but the birds really appreciate the puddles. I get to see them as they stop by for a drink and a bath.

Two sheriff's deputies were out early on dirt bikes, and stopped me in the hinterlands, as I was walking the dog. I've never seen them out there before, and as they were asking me cop questions, Halo came back and quietly stood next to me.

I'm glad that Halo was calm around these cops and their motorcycles, sometimes he acts a little aggressive towards strange men. He's never bit anyone, but he would be savage if there were trouble.

The weather is still cool, so I'm delaying my watering of the vegetables and fruit trees. I've read that it's a mistake to over-water, so I'm being careful.
