After more than a month of moderate temperatures, things are warming into the high-nineties and low hundreds. I've just finished the outdoor jobs, and even managed to repair a old swamp cooler. I'll run it in the garage and be able to work out there in spite of this heat. Some of the lemons are full sized, and just barely are beginning to turn from green to yellow. The peppers are ripening from green to red.

I'm following the news of Irene, and even though the wind speeds have diminished, it's a huge storm, and likely to push water into low-lying areas. There might be flooding and power outages for some.

A good place for current storm news is the weather channel. http://www.weather.com/tv/tvshows/Livestream

The dogs hunt squirrels during our walks, and surprisingly, Pogi caught one this evening. They were together, nosing around a complex of burrows and they got one. Pogi dispatched it and seemed very pleased with himself. I think the two dogs together confused the squirrel and led to a success. Halo is the veteran hunter, and up until now Pogi has been digging at the burrows, which is pointless.
