Farm Report For February 22

I lost the first batch of broccoli sprouts to birds, I think. I have more broccoli to put out, but next time, I'll set them in chicken wire cages. They're also destroying my second attempt at lettuce, but I can build a wire barrier there, as well. I've been transplanting red onions from clumps of little plants to evenly spaced rows, and I'm not done with that.

I also need to continue moving ornamentals to clear space for another vegetable bed.

Walking Wounded

Pogi hurt himself tonight trying to get over or through the fence. I gave him a dog pain pill, and he let me put an antibiotic ointment on a long gash on his forearm. We'll see how he feels tomorrow. He seems to be a generally healthy dog, with good powers for healing. Even Halo is being nice to him, as he seemingly understands that Pogi is hurt.

Pogi hobbled outside this morning, and now, suddenly, he's walking on all four legs.
