Yesterday's high was 105, and at 1AM it's still 80. The garden seem to be fine, except for the lettuce, in fact, the eggplant love this extreme heat. The butternet squash is now coming up. I'll have to get up early and water, in preparation for one more really hot day.
I managed to tie the largest red onions and the garlic into long strings to hang in a cool indoor closet. It was too hot to finish them all, maybe this morning I can.
I stayed home where I can keep the dogs cool. Halo, with his double coat, doesn't like the heat. The first summer I had him, he was digging underground burrows under bushes in preparation, but now he knows he can stay inside with me. Pogi doesn't mind the heat so much, and will sometimes go out and lay in the shade, but likes it when I toss him ice cubes. It was still in the high 90's for our walk at 8PM, and Halo was lagging, while Pogi was running around and having a grand time.
