High and Low Tech
Nov. 3rd, 2012 06:11 amWell, I finally finished the new living room media center system and can lay on the couch with a wireless mini keyboard and control my digital empire. I got out a couple of old wireless routers, and tried to make them into wireless modems, but it's probably not possible with the 2wire product, and I can't log into the no-name router that I once used to receive wi-fi. I have a wireless laptop in the bedroom, and the media center is attached directly to the vdsl router.

Our hero has determined that he purchased the weird, no-name wireless router from Netgear in 2008, to access the now defunct Metro-Fi network. He even found an old tech support case number for it. If they can't help him re-purpose it, no one can.
In other news, I picked the last eggplant, which is amazingly good for November, but the stored onions are sprouting, and I need to dehydrate them so I'll have onions this winter. It seems to be a warm fall, and no freezes are anywhere on the horizon. The peas are starting to climb their trellis, and the tomatoes, peppers and butternut squash are still ripening.
