What Else?
Jul. 4th, 2013 11:26 amI'll pick my first tomatoes soon, about a month sooner than last year. There are also some nice-sized peppers now, but I'll wait until they're red. I worked outside this morning until 10:30, and my biggest accomplishment was to clear to soil in the south bed. The next job is to gather as much compost as I can and move it to the bed. I'll have to push myself to get the squash planted quickly.
This is the last day of the heatwave, and it looks like a super scorcher. The avocado tree took some sun damage, but I've shaded it now, and hope it recovers.
I finished "Call Of The Wild", and Buck reminds me of my Halo. Halo is half the size, but has a similar look, and his breed was taken up to Alaska as sled dogs. Halo is really smart, very loyal and protective. Most dogs immediately defer to him, and the instructors at the dog training class knew he was an alpha dog.
Twice a day, I let both dogs run free in the wildest area nearby, and with Pogi, it's a challenge to keep him within limits, but Halo minds like a champ.
