I'm slowly and methodically getting the south bed ready to plant. It's weeded and turned over once. I've built the gopher barriers and located the spots where I should bury them. I've turned over the compost pile and dug out one wheelbarrow full. There may be one or two loads left.
My compost hasn't broken down as I imagined, but again, I'll just use the best I have. Tomorrow with be hot again, but I'll try to bury some cages in the morning. Wednesday could be the day I plant.
With all these gophers, it might be smart to feed and water the feral cat, and encourage it to hang out here. I've read that even when you feed them they still hunt gophers, and there is no better gopher control than a hunting cat.
