I think I saw a muskrat swimming in the creek a few days back, and I may have seen a coyote in the boonies yesterday.
People have told me that coyotes are around, and I saw a brownish canine (that really blended into the background), for about 10 seconds while it scurried away.
The dogs were checking the scent this morning when I let them off the leash. They stuck together, and both are bigger than the coyote, so I wasn't too concerned.
My dogs have soaked that area, over the years, with piss and poop, so I'm sure the coyote knew it was their territory. I've seen chicken feet back there (all that's left from a chicken), but until now, the major predators have been feral dogs and cats.
Speaking of feral cats, the local one was on the porch eating Pogi's food this morning before I let the dogs out. I hope it's eating gophers, too. I think the cats get the baby chickens as well. I always see adult hens and roosters, but rarely little chicks.
