I'm spending hours every day picking and preserving vegetables. My pressure canner is seeing much use and the food dehydrator is going all the time. It's nice, but also a lot of work.

I'll be set if a giant solar flare takes out the electric grid and civilization grinds to a halt.

The lone Brandywine tomato bush is developing tomatoes, and these will be salad types, rather than paste tomatoes that I'm getting from the 12 roma bushes. The second squash planting has now grown to fill the south bed, and I expect flowers soon.

In other news, this is the two year anniversary of when we found the skinny, stray Pogi. I believe both dogs now to be about 3-1/2 years old. It's a credit to Halo that he welcomed another male dog into his home. Halo is a smart dog and he was pretty bored with just me, so Pogi's presence been good for all concerned. Pogi is a scamp, and is always interesting. Just now, he went out and chased a flock of squawking chickens out of the yard. Both dogs are now out guarding together, which they seem to agree is very important.
