Video Geekery
Nov. 10th, 2013 07:18 pmI recorded and then converted the movie "This Is Spinal Tap" from .wmv format to a .mp4 file and saved it on an old style 4.7gb DVD.
It's nice to have this option, because Windows Media Player seems to erase things at some point. They may have an agreement with the studios not to allow people to keep home recordings indefinitely.
It's also nice that I can use my old technology DVD drive (not a blue ray), and my stack of blank DVD's.
There is an interesting community of video hackers that work on keeping control of video and television, regardless of what the studios and cable/satellite companies have planned for us.
