The power supply fan in my desktop PC was getting very noisy at start-up, so I tried one of those weird internet fixes, and it WORKED! You simply inject some light oil into the fan bearings with a hypodermic needle. You don't need to take anything apart, you just poke the needle tip through the rear of the computer case, into the center of the fan.
Of course, I save everything, so I already have light machine oil and a syringe with needles (left over from when I was treating my cat).
I also couldn't resist a Swann nightvision video camera on sale (can you believe $10) at Fry's electronics. I might be able to connect it to an old TV/VCR combo, to monitor and record what exactly going on outside at night. I know we're visited in odd hours by both people and animals. Halo often wants to go out and guard, and if I set it all up right, I can take a quick look outside from bed when he wakes me up.
