A John Grisham Novel With No Lawyers!
Mar. 20th, 2014 12:28 pm"A Painted House", about a young boy on an Arkansas cotton farm in the early 1950's. More or less autobiographical, and a good read.
In other news, I've been pestered with sprouting volunteer squash everywhere that I laid compost; probably some weird hybrid, that I do not want. I don't remember putting ripe squash in the compost pile.
I took it as a sign that it's time to plant some pure butternut squash, so I did that today. Bush beans go in tomorrow. The Santa Rosa plum has lots of tiny fruit; it's to early to say with the Elephant Heart. The lavender is flowering and attracting honey bees, and the lemon tree is preparing to bloom heavily.
