Gardening and Dogs, plus Weather.
Mar. 30th, 2014 04:30 pmI've done quite a bit of weeding by hand (easier when the ground is wet) and transplanted some marigolds near the oregano patch. The beans and squash are not up yet, but the lemon tree is starting a heavy bloom and is really fragrant. The bees love lemon blossoms, as well as the blooming lavender.
Hurt my back running after Pogi, but took some Naproxen (generic Aleve), and for me, it's a wonder drug.
More rain tomorrow and Tuesday, and the storm door remains open. It's really something how quickly the creek and canal fill up when it rains. They are both controlled upstream by dams and such, but they catch the local runoff and really swell in this season. I found a hundred year-old map of this area, and the canal used to be a marshy tributary of the creek, but at some point they channeled it and made it straight, with artificial banks.
