Mechanical Update

Today, I repaired a number of things, including a swamp cooler (detached water hose), and a circular saw (bad carbon brushes). I've reached the point where I have the tools and experience to do it. I look for service manuals online, but didn't find these, so I sort of reasoned out a solution. Sometimes it's a challenge to take something apart without the manual, and then get it back together.

The swamp cooler is a wonderful thing for the hot days, and I'll be building fences pretty soon, and can use the circular saw.

Stray Dog

Ugh, one of really nasty pit bulls hanging around outside the fence. Huge head and cropped ears. The type of dog that I would pepper spray very quickly. Both of my dogs were initially polite, but after a while Pogi was growling and acting aggressive from inside his yard. I took a broom to the dog, and after a few swipes he finally left.

We didn't get a half-block away, this morning, and the pitbull found us and started advancing. He wouldn't back off, so I sprayed him from a distance of 10 feet. I hate having to pepper spray a stray pit bull, but my primary responsibility is to protect my dogs. I could tell from last night, and again in the morning, that this dog was potentially dangerous.


The pepper spray worked. I got a steady, accurate stream, that hit the dog, and he moved away. I checked Craigslist, but he wasn't listed.
