Five Hours In A War Zone
Jul. 5th, 2014 09:00 amThe non-stop bombs and celebratory gunfire was really hard on both dogs. It was like a major infantry battle was being fought to the north, lasting until after 1 AM. Many thousands of explosions.
A few yellow squash from the first planting have sprouted, and now I wonder if I mistakenly* saved seed from hybrid squash. I replanted with new seed clearly marked "heirloom".
Lots of green roma tomatoes now, I wish some would ripen. No Brandywine tomatoes at all.
*I found the original seed packet, and it doesn't state "hybrid", so I guess they're open-pollinated, not hybrid. Four have come up, and I've also planted a different yellow squash cultivar, so any of this year's seeds will be a cross, and not to be saved.
