All Hail The Mighty Scots
Jul. 29th, 2014 03:54 pmI was discussing the ancient Scottish sport of caber tossing the other day. But today, I had to move a railroad tie, which is much like a caber. It's 8-1/2 feet long and weighs about 200 lbs. It was incredibly hard to move, much less toss. I was dragging it as the day was heating up. and broke out into a soaking, dripping sweat. I guess sweating like that is a good thing, it means you're healthy.
I remember my Dad telling me about being in Paris, as an American GI, during the war. Him and a group of other GI's encountered allied troops in a Scottish regiment, wearing kilts.

Some of the Americans started snickering about men in skirts, but my dad stopped it, explaining that those Scotsmen were tough, and might easily beat the hell out of them.
