This Morning's Nature Walk
Jul. 30th, 2014 08:49 amWe saw two cottontail rabbits, and later two jackrabbits (which are actually hares, not rabbits). Halo was off leash and chased the jacks for a while. The dogs get especially excited about jackrabbits.
We passed a hawk with a broken wing, as we crossed the railroad bridge. He stood up and spread his wings to look fierce as we walked by. My guess is that the next train that passes will finish him.
I stopped at a designated spot and let Pogi off leash, and when he ran off, Halo and I turned around and started walking home. Pogi came immediately back to join us, and I praised him. It's such a challenge training Pogi, but he likes us, and in spite of his wild impulses, he wants to be good.
