Hacking My Android Tablet
Nov. 16th, 2014 06:18 amLast night, I finally managed to enable an Android Debugging Bridge between my desktop computer and cheap Chinese-built Android tablet. Microsoft was fighting me, and when I found drivers that worked, Microsoft wouldn't use them because the digital signature wasn't right.
Once I forced my desktop to submit, I ran a program called Uberizer, which lets me control and reprogram my Android at the most basic (root) level. I'm going to proceed carefully, but the first thing I modified, was to delete any Android software regarding cell phone use, because I have a tablet, not a phone.
My first goal is to make changes that will improve battery life. I need to research that topic.
This is a preliminary exercise, and my next Android device, a Fire TV Stick, has been pre-ordered. It will begin release tomorrow, and no one knows yet how to root it, but believe me, people are working on that.
I call my Android tablet cheap because it cost $70 almost two years ago. It still works fine, except for the battery wearing down. It was amazing, at the time, to buy a functional computer for $70, except that now, I bought the much higher spec Android Fire TV Stick for $20.
