The orange cat is eating and getting around well, so I hope she'll be ok. She may have been attacked by a dog, or even coyote. Dinah has been lovely-dovey lately,  with both me and Jack. Last night, I understood when she wanted another cup of dog kibble, and her blanket. After she got both, she was so happy with me for taking care of her. She's also been thoroughly grooming Jack. He's decided that he likes it, and probably has vague memories of puppyhood as Dinah cleans him.

The fifth cat was waiting for dinner tonight, and was very friendly to me and the other cats. No more skulking around, but I wonder why? My theory is that he was being kept at the house that was just vacated. He now needs a home, and a meal ticket.

Halo is walking on point when we go off leash in the morning. The coyotes watching are confused, because he's grey and shaggy, a sort of dog that looks something like a coyote. Actually, DNA testing confirms that the Australian Shepherd not only has some trans-Siberian Amerind dog, but a tiny touch of Coyote as well. But thousands of generations of his dog ancestors have guarded against the coyote, and Halo has instinctive antipathy and reactions to coyote skulldugery.
