A Few Missing Pieces

A ten year old girl, who last owned Halo, stopped by to see him. She told me her aunt first owned Halo and a second dog, his sibling, on a farm. The aunt died, and both dogs were tied up without food and water for a time. Her uncle went and rescued them, but the sibling has since died. She believes that Halo is less than a year old.

He took a shine to my girlfriend, almost like she was his long lost mom. The first time she met him, Halo and I were waiting in her backyard. When she got home, she came through the house and opened the back door and called him. I could see that meeting really resonated with him.

Halo is a lucky dog!

So much abuse of dogs, you can't think about it or it will drive you mad, I wish they would pass a law that MAKES you take classes and be certified to have a dog before you can get one.

He's absolutely crazy for walks, and all this walking has been good for me. He's the most persistant fitness trainer you could have. He's really smart and active, but gets bored and destructive when I have other things to do. His worst game is running around the front yard and ripping out chunks of grass with his teeth. He's ruined one section of the front lawn. He knows I don't like that, and I think he's started doing it to make me pay attention to him. Even if I'm nearby, working beyond the fence, he'll start doing this. He wants me to bring him out to where I'm working.

You can't dispute the intelligence of dogs when you see them grumble or throw tantrums or be sneaky. Another lj'r says she can't believe how much her first/new dog is like a child. Lucky never got tired of going for a walk, I always thought it must be equal to me running into town to go shopping, and there's a really good sale going on, and my account is fat. That's how excited they'd get. I suspect you're going to have more problems with Halo cuz he is just a teenager still, or maybe a preteen? A tween?
