D is for ditches, bitches. I will stay home tomorrow and fire up my petrol-powered rotovator to dig trenches for underground irrigation line. The ground is wet, but rain should not be at issue. I will have to supplement the mechanical digging with some old-fashioned pick and shovel work, but I want to minimize that, as I am not up for much back-breaking labor. I may not even bury the lines tomorrow, but if i can get them nicely placed in ditches, that will do.
It may be easy and go quickly, but if I hit a lot of gravel, it could be a real chore. I'm timing this job for a short break between storms, and my plan is to finish all the digging tomorrow.

I finished with the ditches and placing the pipes about noon. I did hit sections of gravel and even chunks of concrete. It was hard work, and it's too early to say if my back is thrashed. After lunch, I want to test the system, and then back-fill all the ditches.
