My Big Trees Renew Themselves

I have two old Chinese Fringe trees (Chionanthus retusus), that had to be topped this winter, because of severe mistletoe infestation. I was worried that they wouldn't survive, but they're coming back.
They may never have the same natural shape, but they are beautiful and provide both shade and privacy, so I'm really pleased by this new growth.
These could be an example of the very oldest and largest Fringe trees around. Before cutting, they were about 40 feet tall, almost twice the height suggested on the internet. One big example planted in Massachusetts about 1900 is was a foot in circumference, The larger one on my lot is bigger than that.
