The rain is over, but we're still in a period of cooler than average temperatures. I'm going to be putting out my summer starter plants anyway, beginning with 5 jalapeno peppers tomorrow.
It's been a weird spring, and the Stewart avocado looks really vibrant, but it seems to be done flowering, while some flower buds still remain on the Zutano avocado, as well of lots of new growth. Maybe they'll fruit in another year, they are still small, and it may be to much to expect, so soon.
The lemon tree is still flowering and my sense is that I'll get a heavy crop this year, and that the new basin and deep watering have really helped.
Two of the last three cauliflower are forming heads, and I'll pick the peas one last time today, and then tear them out. The onions are growing well, and the bulbs are getting big. I don't really know when they'll be ready for harvest. My first planting of bush beans is about a foot tall, and the second planting has not yet sprouted. The tomato plants are getting big and flowering, but I don't see any fruit beginning yet.
*******************************************************************
I was able to pick quite a lot of peas; more than I can eat, so I'll freeze some. I saw more flowers as I was picking, so I'll leave the plants alone, and pick another crop later. There really is no urgency in pulling out the peas; later I'll plant yellow squash there, but only once the onions are harvested. I am very happy with these snow peas, so I'll plant again about November 1st.
