I had an overdue physical today, and my blood work was good. I don't have diabetes or prostate cancer, and in general, I'm in good health.

Except that I also heard from the nurse practitioner at the Dermatology clinic, and I think she said the spot on my forehead is one of the less deadly types of skin cancer. She caught me at a bad time, and used a lot of medical jargon.

They want to cut it out using the "flap procedure" which takes 40 minutes and costs $1,147, in addition to the $475 that I already paid for the biopsy. I put in a call to get clarification.

I'm not familiar with this stuff but I hope it works out well for you. It must be frightening.

Years ago, I had a spot of melanoma removed, which is the nasty stuff. I believe this new spot is something else, and not so serious, but I didn't completely understand her explanation, it was very technical. I hope she calls back again today. In sunny places, skin cancer is now very prevalent, and the trick is to find it early and remove it.
