The crows and magpies have eaten most of my almonds. The tree is much larger than an orchard tree, and impossible to net. A real farmer would have replaced it years ago. So all my spraying and watering has come to naught. I'll think on this situation, and do some internet reading, and perhaps come up with a solution for next year. One thought is that I might be able to prune it down to a more manageable size, and then net it.

I'll get a good lemon crop this year, so that's some consolation.

Robby I've not been sure whether it is OK to comment here or not, please delete this if need be. Sorry about the animal pests. I got nailed by rabbits around June, got past that, but deer early July, went psycho. God damned crop-eating animals SUCK I no longer have guilt about eating cute Bambi and Thumper give me the shoulder-fired missile.

This is related, I hate them because they're alive and I miss the cat.

This is the only place I get comments. I started using the Dreamwidth account when the Ddos attacks started on LJ, but I don't know a single person over there. I don't hate the birds, in fact, magpies are among the smartest birds on earth. I've been looking at these solar-powered fake owls that would probably keep them off the tree next season. They even have a solar-powered robotic owl holding a struggling robotic crow in it's talons.
