As if we need trouble from Russia, China and Iran, and as if the US will somehow benefit from supporting the radical Islamic jihadis that make up much of the Syrian rebel faction.

Former congressman Dennis Kucinich (D., Ohio) said today that striking Syria would turn the United States military into “al-Qaeda’s air force.”

Iran has indicated they will immediately attack Israel, in response to an US attack on Syria. This could quickly develop into a major Mideast war.

Hold on to your seats, people.

Ok. Several points of bullshit in this statement.

First, you are quoting Dennis Kucinich without comment. Might as well quote Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn while you're at it.

Second, Russia and China are precisely the reason why the U.S. has not wanted to get involved in Syria because they had financial stake in Syria.

They also have financial stake in the U.S. and will only retaliate with the most toothless trade embargos.

Iran is always making trouble and Iran has been indicating that it will attack Israel since 1980. Good luck with that, Iran.

Finally, the radical Islamic jihads were not present at the beginning of this conflict. Three years ago, the Syrian protesters were civilians who were sick of their government dicking them around. It was the violent response of the al-Assad regime that inspired radicals to join the rebels, but even now the radicals are a small contingent in large community of people. If you want to pretend that you are above propaganda, you probably shouldn't swallow Syrian propaganda hook line and sinker.

And finally, Syria backs Hezbollah. That's a known terrorist entity. Known terrorist entity trumps "well they might be radical jihadists because the Iranian news service says that's what they are."

It's OK to quote someone, without comment, as long as it's in context.

The forces that would gain from the fall of Syria, are the forces of Islamic jihad and repression, the same ilk that gained power after the glorious "Arab Spring" in Egypt.

The US shouldn't waste more blood or treasure on these poorly conceived interventions in the Muslim world. They always end badly for us.

Your view that popular democracy would win the Arab Spring should be evidence that you are guided by your wishful thinking, and that you really don't understand world events.
