Well Pump Blues
Sep. 15th, 2014 09:02 pmRidiculously high ($2500) estimate to replace the well pump. My neighbor's brother is an electrician who has done it a number of times, and I'm hoping he will help me do mine. Tomorrow, I'm going to test the depth of the well and the water level.
*********************************************************************************
The total well depth is 70 feet, and there's 20 feet of water in it. So at these point, a pump replacement is indicated, but we're going to test the pump amperage again to confirm that it's bad. If I can save 2000 bucks by doing it myself, I will.
**********************************************************************************
I put in a replacement controller, and established that the pump has a mechanical defect. The next stage is to open the well and pull out the pipe and old pump. Big job.
I'm going to borrow the tripod and a special pipe clamp.
