I'm continuing with two hours of yard work in the morning. Let's hope it helps me build heat resistance. With our daily walks, it adds up to about four hours a day.

When I stumble indoors, about 11 AM, my ass is kicked, but I recover, after a time, and feel fine.

One reason I push myself like this, is that I'm horrified how so many people have let themselves go. Huge, monstrous people lumbering around, forced to walk only when they can't ride an electric cart. Part of it is all the processed, crappy food people eat, but it's also a lack of exercise. A recent study found that women today weigh what a man did in the 1960's.

A new study has just been released, which claims there are MORE obese Americans now than Americans who are simply considered overweight.

It's not just people being fat, though. Remember that in 1960, the population included a large number of people who had starved as children during the Great Depression or during World War II in Europe, and hence not attained their full genetic height and frame. Today, only a small minority of the US population has ever known sustained hunger.

Maybe I'm being unkind, but I can't help but notice how heavy everyone is getting. It's a sort of decadence, and probably speaks to the terrible state of society. If things fell apart, I'm not sure we have the resilience that Americans had in the past.
