California Teacher's Exam
Sep. 5th, 2015 01:25 pmI'm preparing for the CBEST exam, which is required to be a substitute teacher. I just finished a practice test for mathematics, and did well. I'm planning on taking practice tests for all three segments, and then taking the real 4-hour test on the 26th.
Last year, I worked as a tutor, financed by "The No Child Left Behind" program, teaching English Language Arts and Mathematics, but I never made enough money to justify all the work. I discovered that the company that I contracted with earned about $60/hr per student. but I only made a pittance, even though I taught some group sessions of as many as 6 students at a time. They were making tens of thousands, yet paying me hundreds. I was doing everything, including planning curriculum.
