Kittens

 My momma cat was acting uncharacteristically aggressive and edgy this morning, and was very vocal. I shut her up in a bedroom with a comfortable box in the dark closet. Sure enough, there are now three  squirming kittens in her box. She was protective and hissed a little while I looked in on them. Momma cat seems fine, and I believe her instincts kicked in and she's taking good care of them.

Three kitten is still the total, this morning. Mamma cat was hungry, but didn't like me looking in on her babies.

The first couple of days Mama cat will be protective, Are they all uniform in size that you could see? I have had to supplement with tube feeding if they are really small. Give Mama extra food and liquids.

She is calmer today and eating well. It's been forty years since my last litter of kittens. I didn't notice a runt; all three seem rather large. She is a young and small cat, but got hugely pregnant.

The first 3weeks are critical in kittens, some may fail to thrive. If you can weigh them daily, it will give you an idea if they are thriving. I used a postal scale and weigh in grams.( maybe when Mama goes to use the litter box)

Did you breed cats? That's pretty sophisticated. So far, I'll just watch them wiggle. Tomorrow, now that's she's calmer, I will try to handle the kittens.

One thing is these cats are all feral stock, so they might be sturdier then highly bred cats.
