Real Life ER
Sep. 27th, 2007 09:55 amMy old Dad lost his balance and took a tumble yesterday. I got a call from the police department and met him at the hospital ER. He bled a lot, because it was a head wound, but there was no concussion or any broken bones. I took him home later that night, but I was totally exhausted myself, so I got something to eat and went to bed, but didn't sleep very well.
I finally got up at 5:30 this morning and cleaned lots of congealed blood off the kitchen floor, the telephone and even his walker. Pools of blood, like out of a murder scene. Hopefully, that was the low part of my day. I had the sweats, nausea and a sharp headache while I was cleaning, but I feel better now. I'm good in a crisis and can always do what has to be done, but truthfully it all exerts a toll on me.
