Barn Owl Box

I have some new cordless power tools and built an barn owl box to mount in the empty lot across the way. If I'm lucky an owl family will move in and commence to eat all the gophers in the neighborhood. I've seen hawks around, but this box is built to specifications that are especially attractive to barn owls, who never build their own nests, instead, in nature, steal nests of other big predatory birds.

This is exactly the time when owls don't nest, so I halve time to consider the best place to mount the box. I have a remote tree on the SE corner of my own lot that might work. The owls won't hunt directly under their nest but this might be far enough away from the gopher cities. One other advantage to this spot is that I could rig a webcam inside to watch the birds.
