I kept at the manifold, first removing a valve and gage that were not basic to it firing. It still wouldn't work and I removed, disassembled and cleaned the main burner. That didn't do it, but I finally turned the gas on, with the burner removed, and the pressure blew some crap out of the pipes and voila, it's alive! It burns like a blow torch, with a deep roar.

Tomorrow, I install a new ball valve, new gas orifices in each burner and fire it again. Secondly, I need to get the pilot burners and thermocouple set up properly. After that will be setting up the brick body and seeing how hot it will fire.

I bought the new ball valve and had the time to remove and clean the secondary burner and replace the orifice.

The old pilot brackets are hard rusted onto the side of the burners. I'll have to be clever to remove them. I'll have to get modern replacements and fit them in place and also fit new gas tubes to supply the pilot burners.

I installed the new ball valve and test fired the kiln manifold. I also ordered a single pilot burner/thermocouple assembly, a 20" copper pilot tube and a clamp. The rear burner doesn't need a pilot, I'll just light that manually. I can leave the old pilot brackets alone, there's no point in removing them.
