More Tinkering Tomorrow.
Sep. 19th, 2011 10:18 pmI just received all the kiln pilot burner hardware, and have looked it over and read the documentation. Tomorrow, I'll assemble everything, mount it on the kiln manifold, and test fire the assembly.
I also bought what I need to start on fence repairs. I'm going to set 3 new posts in the ground and build two fence sections to replace a shoddy rolling gate.
The weather is heating up. I'm going to stay home tomorrow and do as much of this work as I can before about 2 PM. I'm going to push myself, but not to the extent of working outside when the temps reach the high nineties. I was working outside today, in partial shade, and it got into the mid-nineties. I'm now feeling the ill effects of the sun and the heat.
Halo and I are both enjoying our new dog, but Pogi has issues. He gets fearful when I swat flies, expecting that he'll also be swatted. He wouldn't take his worm medication last month. It's administered as a tasty treat, but now I realize he wasn't familiar with the concept of being hand fed. No one had ever given him a treat, and he didn't know what to make of that. I've been petting him daily and slipping him crackers, peanuts and ice cubes, and he's very happy with all these changes. He's good off the leash, and I'll let him out the gate, and he doesn't ever go far. When I can't find him. I'll call, and he's back quickly.

I had good luck with the kiln manifold. It now has a functioning pilot system, and seems to run properly. I was even able to cut off the old rusty pilot bracket with my sawzall. The next step is to assemble the kiln and see how hot it will fire. I'll need the kiln top that's now at work.
I painted and set the new fence posts in concrete, and got inside at 1:57. I got a bit a sun again today, but I'm done outside and can avoid the hottest part of the day.
