I'm working on ceramics, and going through lots of trial and error. I learned you can't mix just 10 gallons of slip in a big slip mixer. The stir paddles are designed to agitate big production volumes, my guess is that 20-80 gallons would be correct. I figured out a work-around because I don't want to mix huge volumes while I'm learning.
I also discovered that my slip pump is clogged. The motor seems fine, and initially I'm just running water through the pump, in an effort to clear it.
I've actually got two blungers and 2 slip pumps, but they are disassembled and parts seem to be missing. Eventually I'll get everything working, but for testing, I can always pour by hand.
I'm making progress, but this work is wearing me out.
