Farm Report For April 27

At this point, there are thousands of almonds ripening on the tree. They look like flat, green peaches. My efforts at driving off the birds have been successful. The real challenge will come soon, if flocks of birds show up to feed. I know of three other almond trees that no one is tending, so maybe the birds will be satisfied with them.
The tomato seeds have sprouted, so my next big project will be to fence of the new garden plot, till the soil, and set up a drip irrigation system. I plan on putting tomatoes, eggplant and peppers in this new garden bed.
For the next week, I need to keep the new grass seed moist. I should have peat moss or straw mulch over the seed, but I don't. If it gets hot, I may have a crisis situation, but so far watering a few times a day has been enough.
