Garden Update October 19
Oct. 19th, 2012 04:39 pmThe lemons are ripening, and I think the peas have sprouted. I've prepared the garden spot to plant red onions and garlic. I've abandoned my fancy compost bins made of pallets, and moved everything out to a patch of bare soil, past the fence, where I hope things rot more quickly.
Rain is forecast Monday, and I have things tomorrow to do on the roof, and one last project Sunday, and then I'll be ready.
The tomatoes are ripening en masse, the peppers more slowly. I still have a few beans and eggplant ready to pick this season. The butternut squash could be picked now, but I think it's ok to leave on the vine until the first frost, maybe in late November or early December.
