Technology Update
May. 23rd, 2013 10:23 amI can now convert recorded high-def television into the MP4 format and burn 4-1/2 hours of video onto a single old-style DVD.
This is good, as my computer systems don't include huge hard drives, or modern blue-ray drives. It's fun to get around the need for the newest consumer technology and make do with the old hardware I already have.
Interestingly enough, even buying a digital tuner card is becoming difficult, as the cable companies are trying to lock people into the "free" dvrs that come along with expensive cable contracts.
There is an internet subculture that cobbles everything together, like I have, and gets TV and video for free. It's a little liberating to be in control of your computer hardware and the stream of video entertainment.
